 No. 241. Bath Towel

1st Row. Ch21, turn. D in 9th st from hook. (Ch5,
miss 3sts, d in the next st) 3 times, ch5, turn.
2nd Row. (D under 5ch, ch5) 3 times, d under 5ch,
turn.
3rd Row. (Ch5, d under 5ch) 4 times, ch4.Scallop. Tr back into loop of second row, (ch2, trin same loop) 3 times, ch2, join to first st of ch,
turn, 3d under each 2ch, making five open spaces
in scallop. Join to 5ch of third row.
4th Row. 4tr under each of four 5ch, turn.
5th Row. Ch5, d between first and second groups of4tr, ch5, d between second and third groups of 4tr,ch5, d between third and fourth groups, d into lasttr of fourth group, ch5, turn. This completes firstull scallop. When desired amount of lace hasbeen done begin at first scallop and edge with
blue. Join blue over first tr in scallop, ch5, joinover second tr, ch5, join over 3rd tr, ch5, join over4th tr, ch2, join over

 Aluminum crochet hook size G or size H.

CLOCHE

Ch 2, 6 s c in 2nd st from hook, do not join this or the following rounds. Place a marker at beginning of each round.

2nd Round. 2 s c in each s c.

3rd Round. * 1 s c in next s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.

4th Round. * 1 s c in each of the next 2 s c, 2 s c in next s c, repeat from * all around.

Work 6 more rounds in same manner increasing 1 s c at each of 6 increasing points and having 1 more s c between increasing points in each round (6 increases in each round).

11th Round. 1 s c in each s c increasing 1 s c in round (61 s c), sl st in next st to even round.

12th Round. Working rather loosely, work same as 10th round of bag but having 31 star sts in round, do not join this or following rounds.

13th Round. 1 s c in loop and 1 s c in eye of each star st (62 s c).

Next 2 Rounds. 1 s c in each s c.

16th Round. 1 s c in each s c increasing 2 s c evenly spaced, sl st in next st.

17th Round. Same as 12th round but having 32 star sts in round.

18th Round. Start Brim: * s c in loop of next star st, s c in eye of same star st, s c in loop of next star st, s c in eye of same star st, 2 s c in loop of next star st (an increase), s c in eye of same star st, repeat from * all around ending to correspond, sl st in 1st s c.

Next Round. Work in star stitch pattern same as 12th round until there are 29 star stitch patterns, s c in next s c, 1 sl st in each of the next 13 s c (back of hat), s c in next s c, s c in 2nd st of ch 2.

Next Row. * 1 s c in loop and 1 s c in eye of next star st, 1 s c in loop and 1 s c in eye of next star st, 2 s c in loop of next star st, 1 s c in eye of same star st, 1 s c in loop and 1 s c in eye of next star st, 1 s c in loop of next star st, 2 s c in eye of same star st, repeat from * across star sts only, ending to correspond, then sl st in next s c, do not work across back of hat, ch 1, turn.

Next Row. Skip the sl st, 1 s c in each s c working through front loop of sts only, sl st in last s c, do not work across sl sts at back of hat, ch 1, turn.

Next Row. Working through both loops of sts, skip the sl st and work 1 s c in each s c, sl st in last s c, do not work across back of hat, ch 1, turn. Repeat the last row once, cut yarn. Sew under the last 3 rows of brim.

Sew a bead in eye of each star stitch as illustrated or with Brown, embroider a French knot in eye of each star st.
