Spoon Pin Keeper

This old vintage serving spoon was tossed aside and looked like it had been used for garden work. I have a weakness for resquing things that are tossed out and deemed useless. After cleaning the old spoon I noticed it was silver plated and decided it would made a small pin keeper to use by my sewing machine. My son bent the handle so it would set level and a little piece of lace was added around the inside edge of the spoon using a metal glue. The next step was to create a center cushion to hold the pin. I took a small piece of cotton velvet, cut it in the shape of an oval , garthered the edge of the fabric and added fiber fill, added a little ribbon to dress it up. A very usesful item.

MILL BOBBIN PIN CUSHION & PIN KEEPER

The first to be shared with you is a Pin Keeper also know as a pin cushion made from an old mill bobbin I purchased on ebay.  It is one of the larger ones and kind of reminds me of a gaint size wooden sewing spool of thread.  This lovely Antique Mill Bobbin stands about 10 inch tall and about 4 to 5 inches across.
The top of the mill bobbin pin keeper is covered with a crochet dollie, old sewing spools of thread and a number of vintage sewing needs. I think the pictures will show you how I made it and all the goodies I added.
Have a magical day,
LenZie
