Mug Rug

Happy Mothers Day to all of you.
Still working on the Estate Sale but it is finally showing progress at long last.  Gees nearly fifty years of stuff.  Selling the weaving looms, knitting machines ( a Brothers computerized machine and the other is manual) Lot's of wool yarn, rug hooking stuff, punch needle supplies.  Just so many years of crafting. 
Now to the fun part I found time to work on a little mug rug project and did some machine stitching around the painted design.  Made from muslin fabric and padded it with quilt batting and jean fabric.  Really turned out very nice and the heat does not come through the little mug rug.  Not a fancy project but it was fun and relaxing to make.

Afghan and Quitled Bear

Hi Everyone, as you can see I have returned and hopefully can keep up the pace between the home front, Garden, my blog, Facebook and forums. 
      During the time between post gathered up all my odds and ends of yarn and crocheted a Afghan using the wave stitch and crocheted a black row after each main row.  What brought about using up the odds and ends of yarn was a very kind person I connected with on Facebook.  Bonnie Jones posted a very beautiful Afghan she made from her left over yarns.  After seeing how beautiful hers was and Bonnie encouraging me I managed to create this one.  Thank you so much Bonnie for you kind help.
      As you can see there is a quilted bear setting in the middle of the Afghan and she is wearing part of an old lace edging I found at a Jeannie Consignments.  The tattered old bear is made from a very old quilt that was so worn and tattered.  There were a few good spots and the only thing that kept going through my mind was make a bear.  I love this little girl bear and she is a keeper.

Update from my Make Do Country Home

Welcome to April 2014 and the Spring journey begins with yard work, spring house cleaning and painting. 
 I have at long last sorted out most the boxes from the move into my Make Do country home on 3.50 acres of Gods country.  Lots of work to do but I love what I have been blessed to own.
 Started the process of trying to come up with an idea to render the problem of the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.  The kitchen is quite small and wall to wall Med. dark stained woo cabinets.  The top of the cabinets are in wonderful condition, while the bottom ones are a total mess.  I jump back and forth over color going from the old federal blue to a deep cranberry red, then I get to thinking may be a white because the kitchen is small. grrrrr. Anyway here is a photo of the kitchen cabinets.  Any ideas would be very welcome.
Now you all know why I have been MIA.  Hope to post more photo to share with all of you.

Strawberry Pin Cushion

Hi Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Once again I must apologize for MIA, I had to take some down time and have my eye surgery done.  One of those things where you hold out until you must do it.  The removal of the Cataract on the left eye is wonderful.  However the right eye is not doing well at all as it is blurry and I have to relay on the left eye to see which makes it very hard as it is a lazy eye and need I say more.  So the Arts and Craft department in my life has slowed way down.
As you can see I have not posted in quite sometime due to the surgery.  Hope to be more active on the blog keeping you all updated to the healing of my right eye and what the next step might be.

UPCYCLED BOTTLE A NEAT HALLOWEEN IDEA

Upcycle bottles for Halloween.  I was trying to find some ideas different for Halloween and came across this neat site and how old bottle were used to creaet a spook for this fun holiday. 
I am going to make a few using some wine bottles for Halloween.

Quilting, idea and Update

Hi There, I am so sorry for being MIA as I purchased a home and have been up to my eyeballs in moving and I know most of you can relate to the mess it can cause to ones life. 
Ok fast forward to good things going on here at the new hang out.  I am in the process of having my sons build me a storage shed which will clear out the garage and work room and this will allow me to get back to my love of crafting.

YoYo Pillow

Hello Again



 Yoyo Pillow and Antique edging

About two month or more I received a wonderful gift in the mail from a very dear friend who lives in New York.  She makes Yoyo's from odds and ends of fabric and I have admired the beautiful table cloth she made using the Yoyo's she makes.  I had asked her how she made them and she like the wonderful person she is simple gave me the size of the circle and what I needed to do.  Well time had passed and I never got around to making any and then one day a package showed up and when I opened it up out popped all this little Yoyo's, Yes! I was the proud owner of enough Yoyo's to design a project, needless to say I could not decided just what I wanted to do with them. 
One day while looking at some of my old rug hooking magazine I cam across a penny rug design and fell in love with it and from that moment on I knew just what I was going to do with all the wonderful Yoyo's.  I didn't get to make the same design but that's OK as the one I design is just so special and made a Pillow for my bed and now working on a dress runner to match, just might have enough to make a little Yoyo Mug Rug too.
Thank you Betty for all that you did for me as each time I look at the projects I made from the Yoyo's you sent me will always remind me of you. 

The beautiful edging on the Yoyo pillow came from an Antique crochet book dating sometime around 1917.  Must say it took me a little bit to figure out the design as they sure leave a lot out of there old written crochet instruction.
As soon as I get a few more of the Antique edgings rewritten will post a few for all of you to enjoy.
